Vine tomatoes originate from South America and are now grown across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Left to ripen on the vine they develop a deeper and more concentrated flavour than loose tomatoes. In West African and Caribbean cooking they form the foundation of almost every sauce, stew and rice dish.
